| Cirsa’s president among the 100 Spanish big fortunes |
|
The people of the list have built fortunes of legendary proportions. As they are not exposed to the stock exchange stipulations, it’s quite difficult to know their dimensions. All numbers are based on a snapshot of balance sheets, turnover and profitability of companies. Manuel Lao, President of the holding companies Nortia Corporation and Cirsa, a part of this holding, is one of the listed persons. He has a fortune of between 2,000 and 1,800 million, according to the newspaper. Cirsa, which is a part of Nortia Corporation, has 40,000 slot machines in 70 countries. Cirsa has also a 50% of Sportium shares, a network of 50 betting corners in Madrid. Nortia Corporation has a turnover of about 2.2 billion Euros. It owns a 76-storey building in Panama, real estates, casinos and leisure resorts in the Caribbean Sea, one Executive Airlines with 25 aircrafts and a hunting ground of 4,200-acres in Retuerta del Bullaque (Ciudad Real, Spain). In Terrassa, where he grew up, his three hotels add 625 beds. Lao is also the Spanish gaming employers' representative.
