Across Europe, cash-strapped governments looking for ways to reduce yawning budget gaps are embracing online gambling, a source of revenue they once viewed with wary skepticism. 
Gov. Deval L. Patrick criticized a compromise bill on expanded gambling that calls for three resort casinos and slot machines for two racetracks, saying it would basically give slots to two tracks in the southeast part of the state without competitive bids. 
The Court for the Southern District of New York that is responsible for the case of Aristocrat Leisure convertible bonds has reaffirmed its initial ruling, in which it condemned the Australian company to compensate banks and investment funds to the sum of 220 million dollars (166 million euros) which subscribed for its financial products.
